Founder of Chogye : Doeuguksa(도의국사) Doeuguksa was named by Seodangjijangseonsa. He gave him the Buddhist name Doeu.
Before he got the Buddhist name, he was called Guksa. One day Guksa's mother dreamed about a monk sitting next to her as a dream of forthcoming baby and then 39months later Guksa was born, now, in the city of Seoul, Bukhangun.He was neat and loyal, he was very intelligent he entered the Buddhist priesthood and left home early. The HIstory of Chogye Order
The official name of the Chogye is the Chogye Order of Korean Buddhism. This Chogye Order of Korean Buddhism
represents the traditional Korean Buddhism since 1200 years ago, back in Unified Shinla Dynasty. During the Unified
Shinla Dynasty, it could be viewed as the peak of the Korean Buddhism cultures. There were many numbers of famous
statues, bells and artistic temples made at the time.
One of the most famous statue of Buddha built out of Stone during the Unified Shinla Dynasty.
Even though Chogye was the religion that Korea enforced at the time of Unified Shinla Dynasty, the Confucianism
was still repressing the Buddhism., the idea of "respect the elders" is strongly enforced in the Buddhism
which was truly influenced by the Confucianism.
Not only there were good times for Buddhism in Korea. At the end of the Joseon dynasty, in late 16th century which is during the Hideyoshi invasions,
the Chogye was forced to move into the mountains where the Japanese couldn't see. The Japanese wanted to enforce their religion, and expel the Korea's
own religion. Due to that fact, a lot of the temples today in Korea are still in the mountains.

Eventually, the attempts were made to reestablish Buddhism in the cities. In 1938, a movement for the establishment of
Buddhism in Korea, and has officially established two main goals. They are education and training.
